This Summer season has been very productive in our Denver shop with many exciting innovations and changes in production. We are finally releasing our SWE Bell Crook that is fully CNC machined similar to our SWE Tuning Slide. And we're taking delivery of a new Vertical Machining Center and specialized high speed tooling to increase productivity.
The new (well, almost new) Hurco machining center will arrive in late August. This machine will replace our Lagun VMC 3516. The Hurco VMC offers greater flexibility and faster setup times which will greatly reduce our lead time for standard and custom orders. The new machine is equipped with a Renishaw part probe to simplify part setup and ensure higher accuracy and fewer errors. This machine has a 66% larger machining capacity meaning we can cut more high precision tuning slides, bell crooks, bells, finger rings and braces in one setup. Other options that will greatly increase production efficiency and accuracy include a spindle chiller, chip auger, 30k, 50k and 65k air spindles integrated into the tool changer and three pallet bases. In theory, this new machine will increase machining productivity by over 300% almost immediately. I'll post photos of the new VMC and the new SWE Bell Crook soon. Until then, enjoy the latest photos from the Denver shop...

We are preparing to purchase our new Vertical Machining Center (VMC), which will further increase our capacity to machine Harrelson SWE Trumpet components and accessories. We have opted to purchase a nearly new machine that includes many high end options including Renishaw part and tool probing, 800 square inch travel area (67% larger than our current VMC) and a spindle chiller. We will add a 4th rotary axis and tail stock before the end of the year. The added productivity of this machine will allow us to reduce our custom trumpet wait time to 3 months while ensuring SWE Tuning Slides will be in stock for Bach and Yamaha at all times in early 2016. Since our current CNC programs translate directly to the new machine control, we will be up and running again just a few days after taking delivery in late August. In cleaning and organizing the Denver shop, I have come across a fair number of prototype and trade trumpets that are nearly finished. Rather than move them around (again), I have decided to finish and sell all of these instruments and several of our recent trade trumpets at a discounted price to help us with the purchase of the new machine. Since our prototype trumpets usually sell before they are advertised in our store, I encourage you to contact me directly if one of these is of interest to you. Pricing on the HT prototypes range from $2800 to $3000 and the Summit prototypes range from $3200 - $3600. We will not accept any trades. However, we will consider split and short term payment options.
If something here catches your eye, make an offer sooner rather than later. Once we have the remaining funds needed for this purchase, I will be less likely to offer these prices. All Harrelson instruments listed here DO qualify for full trade credit within on year towards a new custom built trumpet of equal or higher price. This means you could purchase any of the Harrelson trumpets above and trade it in towards a custom Summit at a later date without losing any value. You could be playing one of my horns while you wait for your new horn to be built! |
