Leadpipes & Bells

There are numerous leadpipe and bell configurations that will potentially fit your playing needs.  The following chart offers a basic understanding of these options.  However, not every leadpipe may be paired with your bell and mouthpiece selection to produce optimum results.  This is why we encourage having a conversation with Jason as part of the order process.  Print this chart and make notes as you try various trumpets in your search. Then discuss your preferences with Jason in your consultation to determine the leadpipe and bell best suited to your specific playing needs.

All VPS leadpipes are precision CNC machined and include the Venturi Gap Receiver (VGR). The new SWE Leadpipe System ensures higher accuracy, efficiency and intonation while the VGR offers you full control of air flow, flexibility and slotting. No other instrument offers you so much versatility in a simple, high efficiency design.

Update on available options

Bells 7 and 8 have been discontinued (bell 1X is very similar to bell 7)
CNC machined and 3d printed SWE (Standing Wave Efficiency) bells will go into production at the end of 2025.
The "SWE" line on the bell chart signifies the sound spectrum
produced by one single SWE bell.
This bell is machined from solid billet, is elliptical in shape and produces the spectrum of several different bells combined.

Update on Leadpipe sizing: The venturi and overall taper dimensions of leadpipe #9 have changed and this is now our tightest and brightest leadpipe. The #3 leadpipe is the next smallest followed by #6. If you want to create a brilliant tone, you do not need a small leadpipe. In that case, you need a small VGR insert (venturi under .342) coupled with a #1 bell variation for the brightest tone.
