Rumors & Dreams - limited edition series
The new Rumors & Dreams limited edition series is our answer to an amazing professional trumpet in the $5000-6000 range.
Rumors and Dreams are two matching, but different trumpets. Rumors is a commercial, lead, big band instrument, and Dreams is an all-around performer that works in every situation. Both feature an attractive hex-milled design on a number of B.R.A.S.S. components that are both thematic and functional. That BRASS acronym you just read is explained below, but in a few words, these B.R.A.S.S. components noticeably improve the playability and resonance of these beautiful trumpets.

The new Rumors & Dreams line is my answer to the modern day Bravura model, which was so very successful in years past. The goal is to offer a horn that feels like home to each and every player. This is only possible with the VGR system, or by manually modifying the mouthpiece gap for each player. And that's exactly what I'm offering. When you choose the optional VGR upgrade, you'll have the world's most advanced fully adjustable impedance system ever designed. If you're on a strict budget, choose the included Zero Gap Receiver, and get ready to file down the end of your mouthpiece to optimize your setup. Either way, I will show you exactly how to make your new R&D trumpet fit like a glove in every register, on every note, at every dynamic level. I've studied brass acoustics since 1992, and I'm here to help you achieve success like you've never known.

I have specifically designed the new Rumors & Dreams line of trumpets to answer many of the requests I've received over the past three decades. The top request was to create a trumpet that does everything. Well, after many years of research and innovation, I have concluded that it does require at least two different configurations to accomplish everything, which is why Rumors & Dreams is split into two contrasting designs. The majority of requests can be summed up by creating an instruments that is standard weight, semi-traditional in design, and very responsive with great projection. I've gone a few steps further and designed this pair to be more efficient, and much easier to play than traditional "Artist Model" designs by the big corporations at a fraction of the price. You can read more about the Rumors & Dreams journey in my blog here.

Exclusive features of Rumors & Dreams
R&D Zero Gap Receiver - designed to achieve zero gap (or larger) by filing down the end of your mouthpiece to the desired length, or use our SpectraTone/5MM Modular Mouthpiece with an extended length backbore (+.100E recommended). Written and video instructions will be included demonstrating exactly how to adjust your gap to any setting with standard and SpectraTone/5MM mouthpieces. The ZGR works with all trumpet mouthpieces using the method described above.
Venturi Gap Receiver (upgrade option) - part of our Variable Performance System and the ultimate solution offering fully adjustable flexibility, slotting, and air flow. Fine tune your setup to match impedance between your oral cavity and instrument to produce maximum resonance. Works with all mouthpieces without any modifications. You will learn to use this very capable system in just a few minutes.
B.R.A.S.S. Components - improved efficiency through design; includes tuning slide and receivers, bell coupler, leadpipe to bell bracing around valve casing, Crown top and bottom caps, and HEVS.
R&D Top & Bottom Caps - special limited edition "Crown" style top and bottom caps designed with SWE Technology principles
R&D High Efficiency Valve Stems (HEVS) (upgrade option) - improve efficiency and stability while avoiding damaging aluminum corrosion
R&D Solid Brass Finger Buttons - Choose from HexGeo or R&D Logo styles, or plain
Inlaid Finger Buttons (upgrade option) - Deep Acrylic, Dichroic, and Turquoise options available

What is B.R.A.S.S. Technology?
I began designing Bell Resonance Anti-nodal Stabilization System (B.R.A.S.S.) components in 1993, not long after I started researching brass instrument design. This was in response to an amazing discovery that is well understood in the field of physics, and based on Isaac Newton's Laws of Motion. The sound wave produced inside a brass instrument exerts energy on the confining walls, which results in degradation of tone quality, stability, and efficiency. I describe this phenomenon as Standing Wave Efficiency (SWE), which is explained in detail in my blog and here. Incorporating B.R.A.S.S. components into the design of our new line of R&D trumpets guarantees an even playing scale throughout every register with more resonance and less effort. In my 30+ years of research on the subject of motion, I have developed a set of Spinning Tops produced entirely in our shop that demonstrate Newton's laws. These are used by physics students and educators around the world.
