The easiest way to set optimum mouthpiece gap and improve efficiency.
Harrelson Zero Gap Receivers (introduced in June 2023)
Specifically developed for players not using the 5MM or SpectraTone Mouthpieces, they can be used with Harrelson mouthpieces, but require the +100E series backbores. The ZG series receivers were primarily designed for players using longer than average backbore/shank designs, which include all mouthpieces made by Schilke, Bach, GR, and others. Do not purchase this receiver if you are using a short (correct length) backbore/shank as the H4 receiver would be a better fit.
We highly recommend the VGR Receiver System over our solid receivers, so please consider moving into the best possible solution before purchasing a ZG receiver.
Now you can experience added efficiency and standardize gap on your Bach, Yamaha, Schilke or any other Bb or C trumpet. Designed with an internal shoulder for the leadpipe to stop against, our Zero Gap receivers set your gap to an ideal range with standard shank mouthpieces. From there, you can further adjust your gap and venturi with our Gap Solution Set.
When using this receiver with Bach, Schilke, GR, and other extra long shank designs, you will need to file the end of your mouthpiece to set the gap before or after installation. Optimum gap for most of our clients is approximately .040" to .080". For the metric maniacs, that's 1mm to 2mm of space from the end of the backbore to the shoulder inside the receiver.
Options include:
Please note: Our Zero Gap receivers are not compatible with the VGR system. The VGR can already achieve zero gap with any mouthpiece.
