- Will not degrade from galvanic corrosion (like aluminum stems)
- Wider grip for easy installation and removal
- Spring seat design to prevent valve spring noise
- 35% more thread surface area (compared to OEM Bach)
- Added inertia increases overall stability of standing wave form
How do HEVS compare with OEM stems?
Almost all original stems are made from various alloys of aluminum and range in price from $30/set to over $80/set. In comparison, Harrelson High Efficiency Valve Stems are precision machined to the exact OEM specifications to ensure proper fit of finger buttons and pistons including original valve alignment in solid brass. Since brass is used as the material for valve barrels and finger buttons, there will be no galvanic corrosion ensuring your trumpet will work great for decades.
Removing original stems that are corroded
We recommend spraying your stuck valve stems with a penetrating oil and soaking overnight. It's best to do this in the garage or someplace away from people and flames (oven, stove, heater, etc) as there will be flammable fumes. You may need to hold the stem in a vise or with pliers and carefully unscrew from the piston after soaking. We will film a video example and share in a future update if we hear our customers want more guidance.
