The Cup determines the depth and attack of your 5MM Modular Mouthpiece. We recommend experimenting with cups of various depths and shapes. Cup cross reference
Remember your Cup diameter should match your Rim diameter!
5MM Cups are available in a wide range of diameters and shapes including:
A - Traditional bowl shape
C - Compression - adds clarity to attacks
D - Extra Compression
T - Triple Cup - improves attacks, darkens tone
V - Less Bowl - reduces attacks
Depth Comparison - Harrelson 5MM vs. Standard mouthpiece
A = extremely shallow
C = Schilke A cup or Bach E cup
D = Bach D cup
F = Bach C cup
H = Bach B cup
J = Bach A cup
M+ = Flugel depth
Understanding Size options
Diameter - 3-digit number, inside diameter measured at top (same size or larger than your Rim diameter)
Depth - first letter, must match throat letter designation
Shape - 5 standard variations available (see details above)
