Materials: Nylon, Aluminum, SS, Titanium
Using a variety of laser sintering and binder jet additive machines, we are producing incredibly complex structures that have been fully topology optimized to save material and reduce mass.
- Nylon: very light and strong with good resolution
- Aluminum: stronger than nylon, lighter than SS and Ti
- Stainless Steel: much stronger than aluminum with higher resolution and detail
- Titanium: the most expensive to create, lighter and better resolution than SS
Laser Sintering Technology
We currently rent time on laser sintering and binder jet machines as the typical cost of one machine is over $500k and often exceeds $1M. In prototyping Momentum, we quickly discovered the cost to make just 10 of these in stainless steel would cost over $4000! That's $400 each, and titanium costs much more. We have a brief window of opportunity to offer these to you at a greatly discounted price.
Topology Optimization and CAD Design
We design everything in-house in our Denver, Colorado shop which is know worldwide for high end custom trumpets. Using the most advanced topology optimization software, we can make any CAD design lighter and more efficient while performing finite element analysis along the way.
In late 2023, we introduced the world's first trumpet mouthpiece using this new approach to design and manufacturing. This mouthpiece exhibits 61% efficiency gains in terms of standing wave energy while the weight has been reduced by over 70%. We are currently developing a completely new trumpet that will weigh close to one pound, representing a weight reduction of over70%, while attaining efficiency gains unheard of in our industry.
CNC Machining Technology
We CNC machine every display base, brass outer ring and center hub to precisely fit the sintered parts as they vary slightly by material type. Final assembly is a tight press fit. With over 20 years of CNC machining experience, we were the first company to machine every component of a trumpet (minus the bell) back in 2003. And we are now machining and laser sintering the entire bell.
