sometimes my job is a lot of fun... we are gearing up the shop/office/showroom for the ITG conference. one of the first projects is the bathroom. i am sorting through piles of items to use for decoration. i love many of these old popular mechanics ads... right now in the shop, james is cleaning up a horn, paul is packing trumpets and jason is designing top braces... i have a mouthpiece sale to get going.... and a trade to list on ebay as well... better get moving i love the way the band CAKE uses trumpet in their music... it's lazy and goofy and not at all technical or accurate... i like it for it's sloppy nature this year Jason is a presenter at the ITG which is being held in Minneapolis. the first year we participated we were not received well. most people, if they stopped at our booth, would crack a joke or laugh. it was disappointing for me... especially since i knew how hard Jason had worked to get there... people weren't ready to warm up to the idea that our designs didn't just look different, they were backed by science and years of research and development. that year we were in Denver.... I couldn't find any photos of that conference... i do know we loaded up the Buick we'd bought from my grandpa with everything we could. we took ourselves very seriously and were very professional. it was a learning experience all around. the photos below are from the ITG in Glassboro NJ... I believe that was 2006. by this time we'd saved up for a display and printed a banner... that year I made a slide show which we had on a monitor of some of our more showcased designs. this year was a lot of fun and we had earned the respect of our peers and players alike. we were very well received and made many friends.
Here's our first "showroom" ... this is where Jason taught lessons... at this time the business was starting to consume most of his time and he taught only a few days a week. This is Waconia MN ~ Circa 2005
i was hoping to find some pictures of the picnic table in the front yard of this apartment... but these are from the office/shop where it all began circa 2001 ~ Northfield MN
as promised i did some sifting through the thousands of personal photos i have on a hard drive here at the shop. here are some of my favorites from the shop just before we moved to this new space we have now... I am guessing these photos are circa 2008 |
